Pirates Island, DCA's Future, and a 3rd Disney Cruise Ship!

According to MiceAge.com, Tom Sawyer Island will most likely be transforming into a Pirates of the Caribbean-themed area in time for the 3rd movie's release next year. Although I wish that Tom Sawyer Island would remain the way it is, Pirate's Island would be pretty cool.

DCA is going to see some massive rehauling between now and the park's 10th anniversary, including: California Screamin' becoming the first Disney Villian-themed ride, PhilharMagic coming to Calfornia and a whole re-route of the Disneyland Monorail, among many, many others. Head to MiceAge for the full story, but be warned that it's definately not ruiner-free.

And the best news by far is that the Disney Cruise fleet will be recieving a new edition, to be based out of California and stopping in British Columbia and Alaska! An official announcement could come as soon as the 3rd Pirates film's premiere.

Well, I was right (Nightmare news)

LaughingPlace.com is now selling the item I predicted would go on sale soon: Jack Skellington Mickey Mouse Ears!

Disney Movies on the Go

Apple's iTunes Store has recently been graced with the addition of over 70 Disney films, all of which can be downloaded to one's iTunes library and (ownership-of-5th-gen-iPod permitting) their iPod, to be watched whenever, wherever (as long as ur not in class, biking, or operating heavy machinery :P ).

For those without the $400-plus gadget, Disney has announced a new media player, just in time for the holiday season. Expanding on the success of the Disney Mix Stick, the Disney Mix Max player will hold full-length Disney Movies, Photos, and Music. Costing $99, the player shares many features with the Video iPod, and will have discs which will contain the movies.

Disney News in Asia

According to numerous reports, Disney may be planning to build a park in Marina East, Singapore. The land for purchase is aparently 30 hectares, and would make it the smalled Disney park yet, with Hong Kong Disneyland at over 100 hectares. Don't take the rumours too seriously yet, though, as similar rumours circled months ago regarding a Disney Park in Malaysia. The rumour was fueled by government officials, but denied by Disney.

Hong Kong guests unfamiliar with the characters can expect that all to change, according to Disney. Having not grown up with them as many other countries have, the Chinese will be treated to a short (15-20 minute) pre-show for the park, showing how all the stories fit together. The resort is about to celebrate it's one year anniversary on Tuesday, and has had over 5 million guests since it's opening September 12th, 2005.

A Whole Lotta Nightmare News

Alot of you probably know that Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas is going to be re-released in theatres this October in Disney Digital 3-D, but for those who don't, here's the sitch: the ahead-of-it's-time cult favourite film is going to return to theatres in the new Disney Digital 3-D, which is the revolutionary new style of three dimensional entertainment first seen in last year's Chicken Little. It will only be in films properly equipped to play such films, but luckily the number of them has greatly increased since Little in November 2005.

For the re-release of the films's soundtrack, today's hottest music stars seen more than happy to contribute. Bestselling bands Fall Out Boy and Panic! At The Disco are just two of the many bands lending their voices to the new CD.

And here's speculation on my part: amongst the overhaul of NBC-related Disney pins, I found one of Mickey Mouse ears with none other than Jack Skellington on them. Why does this matter? Lately Disney has been cranking out tonnes of variations of the classic Mouseketeer Ears, and releasing pin versions of them as well. Coincidence? Maybe not. If any regular park-goers see these on the shelf, please let me know, and snap a pic if possible!

The Little Mermaid Returns to the Big Screen!

Good news for anyone with access to the Hollywood, California are in for a treat: The Little Mermaid is to be screened from Sept. 7th- 24th at the El Capitan Theatre. Opening night will feature a film makers' panel, and every screening will have Ariel herself making an appearance! (I'm uncertain wether or not this includes the premiere or not.)

In other TLM news, one of the DVD features is helping to fuel the rumour, in my opinion, that one of the Disney Parks will soon be getting a Little Mermaid dark ride! La Canada Valley Sun reports (along with the news on the El Capitan theatre's exclusive first run of the now digital film): "On Oct. 3, Walt Disney Home Entertainment debuts the two-disc special edition "The Little Mermaid" DVD. Included in its bonus features are deleted scenes, an all-new music video, a fantastic new "Making of Disney's The Little Mermaid," "The Little Mermaid Virtual Ride" that brings to life a Disney theme park ride, games and more." Now to anyone who didn't know better, that statement would lead said anyone to believe that there's a ride already in existence. This and the long-time rumours just keep making it more and more probable.

New Game Series Boasts Princesses & Potential New Franchise

According to UltimateDisney.com, Disney has announced a new series of DVDs called Game World, set to launch with two editions in December. One will feature the Disney Princesses, and the other will boast Disney Dogs. The first is a well-known and successful franchise, while the latter is one of two new product lines I suspect to be in the works. Why do I think so? VMK (www.virtualmagickingdom.com - completely ruiner free!) just had two quests featuring Disney's beloved animals: Disney Dogs and Disney Cats. This further release makes me wonder if it won't become the first gender-neutral product line. Anyways, it will feature over 250 games per-disc, and will "feature animation created specifically for this new product line with Disney characters speaking to players for a fun and interactive gaming experience. With built-in randomization and a huge amount of games, activities, and trivia questions, players are unlikely to ever play the same game twice to ensure repeat playing pleasure." (-Official PR) Mark Dec 5th on your calendars!
